History of Bob Wilcox Construction
commercial Steel Buildings

As a teenager Bob worked building Bullock Garages. He and a partner constructed many garages and finished all of the flat work concrete. Bob soon met another businessman in the Rock Falls area, and they both advanced to house construction. Shortly thereafter interest rates went soaring and the housing market plunged. Through this partner Bob met a district manager for Cuckler Buildings (a pre-engineered all steel building) located in Monticello, Iowa.  A Cuckler outlet was needed in the area and Bob was approached to become a dealer.  When Bob studied the company, he liked the quality of the buildings and the quality of the people who worked for Cuckler.   His first building in the area was Price Motors, presently the Ken Nelson Auto Mall on Route 40 in Sterling.  That was in 1982. In 1986, Cuckler Buildings was sold to Star Building Systems located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Bob remains with the same company to this day. Bob Wilcox Construction has received Outstanding Builder Award almost every year with Star Building Systems.  At the National Sales Meeting for Star Steel Buildings in San Antonio, Texas, March, 2002, Bob not only received the Outstanding Builder Award, but he also received an extra special President’s Club award for sales over three million dollars in steel sales.  From 2002 to 2009 Bob has received this award three more times,  now with steel sales in excess of six million dollars.   Even in a slow economy, Wilcox Construction's sales have been brisk because of Bob's customer satisfaction.
